Timing To Take Steroid?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cypress, TX

My neurologist finally put me on a steroid, after deciding I need something stronger for my 'Status migrainosus' that started 9 days ago. I take Dexamethasone (4mg) 2x a day. Helped for a maybe 3hrs from my initial dose at 6 PM yesterday, but when it came to sleeping, I feel like a Jackson Browne song, "Running on Empty". Dexamethasone - Can Side Effects Appear After Any Dosage Or Time Period Using This Drug?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cleveland, OH

I was prescribed 32 mg (16 mg each time) of dexamethasone from June 12th through the 19th, for the first time. This was also after a course/dose pack of methylprednisolone. By the morning of July 5th my feet (and hands, somewhat) were swollen and by the end of the day, my ankles, too.

Curious because the swelling seemed to come on so quickly. Thank you.

My Medicare covers botox too. Some find it very helpful-others not so much. Good luck.
