Muscle Relaxers Given For Migraine Attacks?
I have experienced 3 months of constant daily & night-time migraines, which had not happened before, since starting Botox 6yrs ago. I felt the night-time/wake-up with Migraines, are the worst!! Disrupting sleep, so a lack of good sleep!! I thought it was teeth clenching, so I bought a good night-time mouth guard to use. Kind of helped, maybe 60%. Kind of hit or miss relief. Two days ago at my Neurologist's appt. for my regular Botox treatment, we discussed my issues. The Dr. prescribed a 10mg… read more
The quantity limitations of migraine meds stresses me out!
Thank you, Michaelfl,
I do also have headache medication for 'break-thru' headaches, between Botox treatments. But because of their 'nature' and with insurance restrictions of only '18' per month, the new nightly/wake-up with migraines daily, posed an issue. So Neurologist decided to add the muscle relaxer at bedtime, to help with stress (she feels).
Thank you for your advice and knowledge, it's greatly appreciated!! Have a great day!!

Yes, muscle relaxers have helped me. I have a very addictive personality. So i have to be careful. But i also am on xanax. So would take the muscle relaxer when i could feel the tension. I gave up caffeine and chocolate for fhe most part. And foods that caused me anxiety. I also went to a physical therapist for my clenching. And that helped a lot. Its worth a try. I took soma for a while and one doctor switched it. But yes it helps. Good luck to you!
Jules2.. I am not a doctor but I do see things need to be addressed. Any of medication are contracting with any other medications you are taking. In sounds you are stressing...
Caffeine intake getting close to sleep time? Have considered other medications other than Botox acupuncture. On the my half, Botox didn't hit the surface. This is a entry level trail. Acupuncture, they left me worse then I came in for the treatment. I had to seen a lawyer about the situation. Suggestions: I would go back and revisit your problems/situations.
Ugh…sounds challenging. From your message I could not tell if you had an additional preventative and a couple of abortives for when the migraine is coming on.
No, I have not heard of muscle relaxers being used for migraines. There are preventative meds that can also help with anxiety or sleep. I’ve had good luck with them.
But…everyone’s responses to meds is unique. Be well.
