Have Any Of Y’all Taken Keppra?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

My epileptologist prescribed this medicine about a month ago, for seizure-like symptoms and migraine. Started taking it about three weeks ago. Began to have really bad intermittent sleep, though, and bad mood swings. Did help some with the pain, and feelings of deja vu, and blanking out. Just wanted to get an idea of what y’all’s experience with this drug has been like.

Thanks “Frogs”! I greatly appreciate your response and invite!
Over the course of the last decade I began to feel very abnormal- lots of spaced out feelings, deja vu (feeling like I’m starting all over, yet I did what already), smelling scents that weren’t there, seeing auras, and very frequently the ice-pick-to-the-side-the-head feeling that could last a few minutes to a day.
Got referred to a neurologist early last year, did some tests for Parkinson’s and MS (thankfully I didn’t have any of those). Then I got a new neurologist, referred to as an epileptologist (never knew such a doc existed) last summer. When I got numb on one side of my body and informed him (my epileptologist), he felt I needed to do an MRI. When I did it, they found out that I had Mesial Temporal Sclerosis. My epileptologist suggested I had some TL seizures (temporal lobe) which I’ve found out is different than general epilepsy.
So, I have chronic migraine, mesial temporal sclerosis, and a touch of restless leg syndrome.
Doing ok now, but I take things a day at a time, and thankfully allowed to work from home.

Yes I am on it .have been for years. I do think it can affect my mood, and can make me drowsy. Helps my epilepsy be contro ll ed. I know I am not often thirsty on it. Do you know about myepilepsyteam.com? Do you notice it helps the migraines? I would give it some time to see if you get used to it. I am on the above website as well. You can join my team there too.
