Have Had Two Vyepti Infusions. Have Not Experienced Any Relief From Migraine Tension Headaches Yet. Is It Still Too Early To Tell?
Once again, y'all. Don't give up so fast! One infusion of ketamine did nothing for me. But by the fourth, I noticed my peripheral neuropathy wasn't buzzing and stinging all damn day. Eventually my fibromyalgia eased up some. And Aimovig took 18 months. Even now at 3 years, I'm continuing to improve. Look at ShawndaAPauuig's post above. Reversing our body's systems takes time. Think about successful weight lose...same thing. "The river didn't shape the rocks by force. It took consistency and time." Even rescue meds may not work the first few times. I took Nurtec 5 or 6 times before I found success with it. True, triptans work faster, but their side effects are also stronger too. I know sometimes it feels like I'm standing still, or even digressing, but over time by tracking in the Migraine Buddy app, I see slow improvements. Hang in there y'all!!
I have been taking Vyepti going on 2 yrs. It took almost a yr for me to say my headache is almost gone. I then take Ubrelvy if I have a breakthrough headache. I also had to quit any alcohol whatever. I take Trokendi 200mg at night too. It has helped me get my life back!
They didn't work for me either.
I know nothing about that particular drug, but according to my neurologist, relief depends on many things. In my case, I'm a long term migrainure. I've had migraines for 51 years. Therefore he couldn't tell me how fast Aimovig would take to work for me. He said that people with lifelong migraines are usually excluded from drug trials and research, so there's no data on how it might affect us. He asked that I commit to at least one full year before I gave up on any of my new medications. Since he got me into the Amgen Safetynet Foundation and I got my shots free all year, I agreed to his request. It actually took about 18 months before I found some relief. Since Medicare wasn't paying for the Aimovig, he started me on Botox too. Between the two medications, I dropped about 4-7 days per month, going from 24-28 days, down to 18-20 days. Not enough to move out of chronic back down to episodic, but a week free from migraines was a success in my mind. (No pun intended.) I'm still on both and now we're trying Nurtec as a relief drug. Verdict is still out on that one. So all that is to say, don't expect fast results. Look how long it took you to get to this point. Allow some time to take you back the other way. Good luck!
I had 1 infusion and it did nothing. Good luck.
