A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone I was hoping to hear from others how you deal with migraine attacks when your period due date has gone haywire. Before I had my baby, the date for when my period occurred was always the same so I could take measures on my guaranteed migraine attack. I was on the pill for a long time, and changed my cycle so I only had a period every 3 months. It helped immensely with the hormonal migraines. Now I have an IUD, so my hormones still go through the cycle every month and I'm thinking of going back to the pill just to block that monthly migraine. I first started BC because my periods were very irregular and painful with heavy bleeding. It's worth talking to a doctor about your options.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain. My Dr. thought that my monthlies were triggers for migraines. I've been on depo provera which is a birth control shot. Since then. I NEVER get my period. I would think it would help...or maybe it is...if I wasn't getting migraines all month long. If it's your period, look for a birth control with the lowest estrogen possible, and level that monthly cycle to a predictable 28 day cycle. I hope that helps.

I can't offer much support here as I do not have periods anymore. That did not affect my migraines though.
