Has Anyone Considered Trying To Qualify For Medical Marijuana For Your Migraines But It Is Not A Qualification For It In Your State?

I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of my migraines but NOTHING has worked and we are retrying previous treatments again only because something HAS to work. Medical marijuana is the ONE thing I haven't tried and I can't even get it.

@A MyMigraineTeam Member That's funny because there are so many different methods and types of Marijuana that I find it funny when people rule it out. There are different strain types of the actual plant matter that do help with migraines. There are also some that can cause migraines. On top of that there's also different types. There's Oils, Shatter (concentrates that have no plant matter in them) edibles, hash, butter.. the list goes on and on. Just because smoking one type gave you a migraine doesn't mean you should group it all together under the nope column. For me smoking the plant matter gives me a migraine. BUT, My boyfriend smokes shatter concentrate for his compressed lower back and that helps me a lot when I have migraines. Edibles do the same thing, they help with my migraines and help with my body pains. And then of course I tried the CBD oil extract that that help me a lot too. This is where the research comes in and talking to someone who actually knows something about it helps. Try going to a dispensary and talk to them about it, they might be able to give you some advice as to what could help and how to use it.

I live in Canada so the whole qualification thing doesn't really apply to me as it does in the US, but I do find that Medical Marijuana has worked really well for me. It helps me a lot with my anxiety, and with my depression, and on a good amount of occasions with my migraines although it's not an every time helpful thing. Some are just so incredibly persistent that Weed doesn't do anything to help it, although in that case it normally is enough to put me to sleep and in turn that will usually help with getting rid of my migraines. I would say if you can try it, definitely do! Plus there are so many different way to try it, wither it be eating it, or smoking it, or using the oils, or even trying concentrates. Something has to work. I've even tried CBD oils (marijuana without the high part of it) and it worked wonders for my body aches, and migraines.

I have tried Marinol which is a synthetic form of THC (component of marijuana). It is the only thing that has ever helped my migraines but the side effects were horrible. Similar to topamax for me--confusion, loss of memory, delusional & very emotional. I'm hoping to try eatables when Med marijuana is approved here. Hoping to get the same benefits of marinol without the side effects.

Do you have allergies or fibromyalgia besides migraines? Try tramadol with zanaflex every 8 hours, then7, then 6. It worked on 6 hrs every 6 hrs. Must pick times and set alarms to remind you to take it. I still have them just not every single day. Plus weather, allergies, perfumes can all trigger one. I also take gabapentin at night w/Prozac for my migraines, fibromyalgia, and DDDIN my lower back. My neck hurts a lot. So if I am feeling severe pain all down my legs I go get an adjust from chiropractor. No popping or pulling just a massage and then she use a little door stopper like gun. Which is only 4 lbs of pressure and adjust me in the places I tell her I am having pain. Have gone to her for 30 years off and on. Usually one or two visit and she has made me better. So that I am not having severe pain. It's worth the money. I also take Vit D3 2000 units, COQ10 100mg, calcium 600 units w/D3 400 units. Occasionally 800mg of Motrin, as needed 7.5 norco. DDD
CHRONIC MIGRAINES
CHRONIC PAIN STNDROME
FIBROMYALGIA
CARPAL TUNNEL IN HANDS AND WRISTS THUMBS
LYME DISEASE I STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH THIS DISEASE SINCE 2005 it caused short term memory loss still have that.
Issues w/ autoimmune diseas
I am in pain 24 hrs a day.
I tried so many different drugs for my migraines and tramadol, zanaflex combined ever 6 hrs was what gave me relief. Even if it just put it down to a slight headache. I have been having most of all this since I was 25-35 yrs old. I am on disability cuz it's hard for me to work I have to remember on good days not to over do it or I will pay dearly for it. I also have a tens machine and a helmet that massages my head.
