A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Many years ago there was surgery to remove a temporal lobe tip from my brain and it was quite successful. All I am going to say without getting into detail is that the area on the left side of my head is experiencing extreme pain when pressure is applied to it.

I have found myself sleeping on my back or on the right side in many cases. However, there have been many times when I find myself leaning on a pillow with my head on another pillow. Additionally, there have been times when the left… read more

It sounds like you're dealing with a challenging situation. Here are some suggestions based on my knowledge base to help you find comfort while sleeping:

- Pillow Arrangement: Use multiple pillows to create a supportive structure that keeps pressure off the left side of your head. You can place a pillow under your neck and another one to support your back, allowing you to sleep on your right side or back without discomfort.

- Specialty Pillows: Consider using pillows designed for people with head and neck pain, such as memory foam pillows or cervical pillows. These can provide better support and reduce pressure points.

- Sleep Position: Since you find sleeping on your left side most comfortable, try using a body pillow to support your body and keep your head elevated. This can help distribute weight more evenly and reduce pressure on the painful area.

- Upright Sleeping: If lying down is too painful, continue to sleep in a reclined position on the couch. Use a recliner or an adjustable bed if possible, as these can provide better support and comfort.

- Consult Your Pain Management Team: Keep working with your pain management team to explore other options, such as physical therapy, medications, or other interventions that might help alleviate your pain.

Remember, it's important to find a solution that works for you and provides the most comfort.
