If You Were Bullied For Your Migraines, How Did You Get Over Your Depressing Feelings?
Classmates and teachers have bullied me for my migraines and lately I kinda feel like I’m just not wanted. People don’t understand how migraines feel unless they’ve had them and I don’t know how to explain to them what they feel like. So how would you explain the feeling of a migraine to someone, and how would you get over the feeling of simply feeling unwanted and worthless?
All you can do is understand yourself. There are people who will be compassionate, and many who won't. Don't waste your energy on those who don't care. Instead use that energy on hesling yourself and finding happiness within your life. The migraines will most likely be with you forever, but they don't run your life. Accept that you must live with them, but don't hate it! That also wastes your energy. Instead plan your life to prepare for them, so you can handle them when they happen, and then get on with your life!! I work when I am able. I always have back up plans, and I live my life looking for joy. I call them joy shots. They're everywhere. A cup of cinnamon tea. My dog's smile. Flowers. Snow. Rain clouds. Just find your joy.
Its bad enough having to deal with migraines, let alone try to explain yourself to people that dont know what these migraines feel like and do to a persons self worth.
Trust me, having had migraines since 1st grade people dont understand what you physically and emotionally go through. They wont get it, so try to concentrate on you and your recovery. Not trying to make them understand. "It's just a headache, get over it etc.... " isn't what you need to hear from them.
Stressing out over explaining to them only makes your migraines worse.
We get it, we know what it feels like. You've got a good support group here. Thats a great step. Hope you have a good Neurologist that can help you reduce the frequency of them with good medications. Forget the Bully's Concentrate on your Happiness!
I think that realizing people are not usually naturally empathetic and cannot truly understand helps me. Knowing that Christ understands and does truly know my pain because he experienced extreme pain himself also comforts me. Knowing that His view of me is what really matters.
I really feel for you. When I have a migraine sometimes my head feels like a water balloon that’s been overfilled with water & is about to pop. There’s been times when there’s so much pressure at my temples that it feels like my brain is about to squish out. Sometimes the migraines feels like my head is in a vise like. There’s always the migraines that feel like my head is going to explode.
I want you to know that you are not alone & you are most definitely wanted! People on this site understand & care! I absolutely understand & I care!
