Finding the right medication for chronic migraines can be challenging. Here are some common treatments that people have found effective:

Rescue Medications:
- Pain Relievers: Over-the-counter options like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen sodium (Aleve), and acetaminophen (Tylenol). Some prefer Excedrin Migraine, which combines pain relievers with aspirin and caffeine.
- Triptans: Medications like sumatriptan (Imitrex) and rizatriptan (Maxalt) can be effective but may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with cardiovascular issues.

Preventive Medications:
- Blood Pressure Medications: These can help reduce the frequency of migraines.
- Anticonvulsants: Topiramate (Topamax) and sodium valproate (Depakote) are commonly used.
- Antidepressants: Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) like amitriptyline (Elavil) and nortriptyline (Pamelor) are often prescribed.

Newer Treatments:
- CGRP Inhibitors: Medications like erenumab (Aimovig) and fremanezumab (Ajovy) have shown promise, especially for those who haven't had success with other treatments.

Lifestyle and Complementary Treatments:
- Lifestyle Changes: Tracking diet, sleep, and activity to identify and avoid triggers.
- Natural Treatments: Acupuncture, acupressure, and biofeedback.

It's important to consult with your doctor to find the best treatment plan for you.

Monthly taking Ajovy which is self-injector, Botox every 3 months, Ubrelvy which is the emergency medication. When the migraine begins I always base the pain level 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest level of pain. Depending how difficult chronic migraine is I may be able to resolve by one Tylenol then drinking one cup of hot black coffee or it may be a matter of taking the emergency drug Ubrelvy. As mentioned, I always base migraine using the pain scale first before moving forward. When I do drink the hot coffee and Tylenol combination I stay hydrated with enhanced cold water.

My neurologist put me on Cymbalta 30mgm in the evening for stress after my sister recently passed away. It is like a miracle drug for me down to 1 or 2 headaches a month and are very manageable . I take Botox also and usually got 4/5 migraines a month.
