Has Anyone Tried Myofacial Massage (specific For Migraine)?
I’d like to add to my answer above. I just did some research and found that miofascial massage is similar to shiatsu and neuromuscular massage which does not appeal to me at all.
My experience is that these are all extremely deep tissue work and extremely painful.
I’m sure that many of you reading this do not want to willingly put yourself in a high pain situation, which also may trigger or worsen migraine symptoms.
I am now going to focus more on the possibility of gentle or Swedish massage where pain is not induced, and the focus is relaxation. That’s a better fit for me because I am highly avoidant of pain after 40 years of migraines.
Hi,
I’m in the early stages of researching this because it’s a non-medication option.
I use an ice hat and an ice roller, which is helpful as an adjunct to the use of various medication’s. This was recommended by a neurologist to a friend of mine who also has chronic migraines.
I have read some other experiences on this site where massage has triggered a great deal of pain for some people. I am also in that category. So, I’m trying to see if there is a massage specifically targeted for migraines, and I’d like to have a conversation with those practitioners to learn what they do to avoid triggering pain. If that conversation makes sense to me, I might try it.
