Price Of Medications

What insurance company is used to help with the cost of all medications for migraines? If you are on Medicare, those little coupons disqualify you from any discounts, which I'm not sure I want to understand their reasoning there. That's the government, always there to help. LOL
Not one prescription has been under the cost of $500, and on a strict budget, that's not possible. If anyone has any ideas that would help, I would be grateful.

Hi,
I am also on Medicare and I have part D drug coverage through them. You are absolutely right about the companies offering discount coupons to anyone except Medicare recipients.
Your doctor can contact the part D Medicare drug program that you have, and the doctor will receive paperwork to ask for an exception, and give the justification of why the medication you need should be offered at a lower rate.
This does require cooperation from your doctor, but I have done this and I know other people who have done this successfully.
Best of luck to you.

I wish I had an answer. The best I could do was to use the monthly injection of Emgality. It's between $300-$400, depending on your supplemental policy if you are on Medicare. If you qualify for Medicaid-no problem with coverage.

Here are some tips to manage the cost of medications:

1. Ask for Generics: Check with your physician if a generic version of a drug will work as well as the brand-name option
2. Search for Discounts: Look for coupons, reduced prices, or programs through manufacturers that can save you money on drugs.
3. Copay Assistance Show Full Answer

3. Copay Assistance Programs: Many drug manufacturers offer savings programs or access cards. For example:
- Ajovy: Some users pay only $20 with a coupon card, compared to $125 with insurance.
- Aimovig, Ajovy, Emgality: Each has a savings program. Check their websites for eligibility.

Always scrutinize your medical bills for errors, as 80% of medical bills may contain mistakes.

I will. I have it on Monday. I'm not afraid of needles. By any means, I am worried about possible reactions, not knowing anyone who's had this procedure before. I always like to be prepared and talk to others that have it done.
Thanks for your concern
