Has Anyone Experienced A Decrease In Migraines When Stopping Any Form Of Birth Control?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had migraines since my 20s which is also when I started birth control. I didn’t have them at all when I was pregnant with my three kids and noticed a decrease when I was nursing. I recently got my IUD out and am hoping for a decrease again. I am not planning on using any kind of birth control again and wondered if anyone has any experience with this change?

I've noticed that the ones that cause migraines are the ones that have estrogen. I had issues with the estrogen ones, so I swapped over the progesterone and I haven't had an issue with it.

I remember reading an article about the birth control/migraine connection. If I remember where I read it, I’ll post the link

I'm not sure if estrogen has caused my chronic migraines or not. I was always told that once I got everything straight (not more problems..and I've had PLENTY!) that migraine would magically disappear, but just opposite happened for me unfortunately. Wishing you wellness. I have found relief from my preventives lately tho. 😁💞

Hormones are a huge trigger! Not sure about birth control, my husband had a vasectomy. Cheaper, easier recovery time ✔️
