Do You Suffer Pain With Olfactory Assaults Including Fresh Newspaper Or Other Unavoidable Chemical Scents And How Do You Cope?
I can go from a lower level 2-4 to a upper pain overload with the first slight smell of a fresh newspaper. This morning was good, until I passed my husband reading this Sunday mornings newspaper. It was good so briefly I allowed myself to have there hope for a good day.. now I have retreated back upstairs to my room. Same with hot street tar, smoke, perfumes, fabreeze.
I always have a scarf or handkerchief doused...like 6 drops with an essential oil that.i can handle and keep it around my neck or in my purse. It over powers chemical smells or scents in shops that spray out a floral. Helps in elevators where women have sprayed a whole bottle of perfume on themselves.. I just casual lift my fabric up to my nose until I’m away from the odor. It’s not fool proof, but I was able to go to the salon around all those chemicals and get my hair colored and cut with the ability to still drive home.
I’m sorry so late responding. I do well with citrus- lime, orange , lemon.
Clary sage is a good one for me as well
@A MyMigraineTeam Member What essential oils do you prefer? I cannot tolerate most. Even a soft ‘spa’ essential oil in magnesium salts bath can be too much. But totally know the trama associated with assaulting scents from colognes, fabreeze everthing, candles, room fresheners, the cleaning and fertilizer isles in stores, petrochemical (hot road tar .. 💀), etc & etc... your idea would be great if I could find one that I wouldn’t be sensitive to. What do you and others use? 💖
I like your idea Holly, it's much better than holding your breath as you run past the candle shop in the mall.
I’m sensitive to smells, loud noises, and light. My migraines are with me 24/7 so I can relate.
