When Do You Request A MRI?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dickeyville, WI

I’ve been experiencing severe headaches almost daily (5 out of 7 days a week) for over two months now. I have a history of traumatic brain injury. They are accompanied with dizziness/lightheadedness, I see spots, and some nausea but no vomiting. Just yesterday I started experiencing a new symptom of when I move my eyes side to side I get a sharp shooting pain toward the front of my head.

A MyMigraineTeam Member

O wow! I did not read your brain bleed issue when I posted the above. Hope you are getting the proper attention for this. Prayers for you!

Cigarette Smoking And Migraine

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Woodacre, CA

Hi all
Everything I have read says that cigarette smoking is bad for migraineurs. However, I remember the years that I smoked - and admittedly, I was a “light” smoker - far less than a pack a day - but the thing is, I had LESS migraines during that time. And it is odd considering that some studies show that smoking can cause more migraines. The studies, however, seem small and not entirely conclusive. Since nicotine constructs blood vessels, this is considered bad for migraine. But a doctor once… read more

AshleyKelley27: probably your body was likely reacting to not having nicotine when you tried to quit. Nicotine is a powerful vasoconstrictor and your body probably got used to that. Then when you… read more

Has Anyone Had Blood Patches For CSF Leaks? Have They Worked?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Souderton, PA

This would be for headaches. I have had 5 and still have a headache.

A MyMigraineTeam Member

Unless they can pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from I'm not sure a blood patch is an appropriate fix. I'm like the other respondent. I've had 2 patches resulting from spinal taps and… read more

Does Anyone Know Of Migraine Meds That Can Be Taken With SSRIs?

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone know of migraine meds that can be taken with SSRIs? I am beginning treatment for OCD and the standard is an SSRI. Their attitude is like you just have to live with it. I have had migraines since the age of three. One of the reasons I stopped taking SSRIs was because it aggravated them. It is like a choice between having OCD and having migraines. I cannot take tricyclics.

Thank you so much. God bless you also.
