A cardiologist started me on Metroprolol tartrate 25mg twice a day for heart palpitations that were driving me nuts. When I saw my neurologist, he asked if my migraines had improved, and yup, they had decreased. I was later switched to Metroprolol succinate (long acting, so once a day) and until recently, all had been good. Palpitations under control and not too much migrainous activity. Unfortunately, I've had an episode of severe vertigo in early August and the symptoms are gaining traction again.
Would I recommend Metroprolol, yes, worth a try for sure. Are, there side effects, yes, lowered bp (I was already being treated for hypertension so no biggie for me), some lethargy, again nothing too bad, but this is just me. I hope you have some success if you try it-Good luck!
