I consistently get migraines about 48 hours before a front comes through our area, by the time the actual rain hits, I'm usually doing a little better. I keep a close eye on the forecast, and have my migraine meds close at hand when indicated.
I saw where someone else said that they are a human barometer, I too identify as a human barometer. I am way more accurate than any meteorologist! If there is any type of pressure movement- I have a migraine. The thing is there is absolutely no way of controlling the weather. I currently take enough meds for chronic conditions including migraine to (as my best friend puts it) choke a horse. I have found that Qulipta and Botox really help on lowering the number of migraine days I have a month. I can only take certain medications to help in the middle of a migraine- Zofran for nausea, an anti-inflammatory for the pain, and maybe a Bupap with the Nsaid. Other than that, it is just retreat to a dark room, put on some lo-fi music to distract my Meniere's, and pray. If that doesn't work after a few days, then I go in to see my PCP for a cocktail. I have given up on a cure- at this point relief from constant pain would be awesome. I take life one day at a time. When that doesn't work, I go one hour, then one minute, then one second.
Everything about the weather affects my migraines. Heat, humidity, rain, sunshine, extreme cold, barometric pressure. Really it limits my activity, sleep. Combine with my other chronic pain illnesses I just try to be bulldozer. Pushing forward and pushing through! That’s all I can do!
For all of us who are human barometers, I suggest you download My Migraine Buddy. The free version allows you to see 2 days of barometric pressure forecasts. The paid version gives a full week I believe. You can track all of your migraines on it. It comes with a notes section if you need specific details. I've had mine since 2018 (free version) and I love it because I can email my reports to my doctor. Also, you can adjust the reports to whatever span of time you want.
Weather changes are definitely my major trigger. I live in Central Texas, so staying cool & hydrated is a must most of the time for safety's sake, as well as keeping the brain pain away.
