What Twirls For Vestibular Migraines?
3 days in bed and not any better. Not sure what to do.
Hi,
I saw a neurologist and ent dr about 20 years ago. The neurologist said it was my ears and the ent said it was my head. I gave up. The latest was caused by strong coffee and found out my brother had the same migraine caused by strong coffee. But vitamin B2 seems to make them occur less often and somewhat less severe. Have been bad about taking it and got one and spent 3 days in bed. My hearing is fine and I am 70. Don’t believe it is meneire’s disease. I also have auras caused mainly by cheddar cheese. I avoid it now and rarely get that kind. Bad headache migraines ended with menopause. The ones I get now are vestibular migraines. I also get them from aerobic exercise classes, which I had to stop 10 years ago, and from changes in weather in the fall.
I hope you continue to find better meds to help.
Thank you!
Do little things to take care of yourself remember HOPE stands for HANG ON PAIN ENDS Good Luck
I hope you do as well! Both of my parents had terrible migraines. My Dad had cluster type while my Mom had Chronic Migraine. I have tried B-2 and it didn't do much but upset my stomach. I also have digestive issues so I can only eat certain foods. I am 55 and started this nightmare at the age of 7. I don't think I would know how to act if I were pain free! But I hope that will come soon. I am sending poaitive healing vibes your way!
I have Meniere's Syndrome as well as Chronic Migraine. I went through the ringer trying to find out why I was so dizzy, nauseous, blurred vision, double vision, and everytime I was vertical I actually got worse.
Just a little background- I have suffered with migraine since I was in the second grade. That was when kids could not have migraine even though they have a brain etc. I have tried just about everything available. I have actually seen a rude Neurologist who said I just wanted drugs. Nope, I wanted help-preferably with out all of the horrible side effects of opioids. Demanded my money (co-pay) back and told him that he was a joke. I came to a licensed professional Neurologist for help and he told me there was no way that I was having around 25 migraine days a month. So when I finally heard that they had found the genetic reason AND that Chronic Migraine was real --I finally felt vindicated! So I have lots of experience with damn near everything Migraine related; at least the older meds. My current Neurologist is absolutely awesome! He has helped me be able to try newer meds by helping me sign up through him to pay for the extremely expensive (even with insurance) price tag that comes with them. I finally have found someone who knows and follows the hippocratic oath that all doctor's are supposed to follow! I currently get quarterly Botox injections and have started on Qulipta. Together they have cut my migraine days to around 15 or so a month. Sometimes less, sometimes more; the weather changes (Barometric flux) being my worst trigger.
With the dizziness, do you have ringing in one or both ears? Or even a constant "ringing"? (Mine sounds more like feedback through a guitar amp; more of a tone than a ring.) I started looking for answers with an ENT doctor. They are who treat Meniere's as well as all things ear, nose, and throat related. They flip flopped on the Meniere's diagnoses several times. First I had it, then another said no it was caused by my migraines. So I dealt with severe Drop spells (flares) for quite a while before I actually was definitively diagnosed with the Disorder. It is an auto-immune Disorder, not a Disease. I can tell when they are coming. The spinning is enough to drive you crazy. Along with really bad motion sickness which makes it worse. I will eventually lose my hearing in my right ear. I have already lost some of the lower range and high squeaky noises hurt thus triggering a- (you guessed it) Drop Spell with the added bonus- a migraine. It is what it is. You can make changes in your diet to cut down the number of flares you have. Try going without salt as much as possible and caffeine as well. See if that helps with the spinning some. Other than that I would definitely start at an ENT.
I will add you to my team! I am not on often but I will try to check in more frequently. I wish you health and positive vibes! ~ Lynne
