Quick Changes Between Shadows And Light

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I hope someone understands what I am trying to describe. Does anyone else have problems when they are driving and the shadows from trees that are cast across the road especially with a group of trees standing next to each other and as you drive past them it's shadow light shadow light shadow light so basically flashing in quick fire like a strobe light becomes a trigger for them? I don't know how to minimize it's effect. I wear sunglasses and try to hold my hand up above my eyes to try and… read more

So relieved to know I'm not alone with that (although sad you experience it too) everyone (friends and family) I have tried to explain it to, just look at me like I'm out of my mind and say they're just shadows😥

I am so sorry that you are not believed with this, almost everyone that I know who has migraines has this problem.
And some who don't have migraines.
It is nice to know that you are not alone ❤️

Hi Patricia, when I was dealing with chronic migraines I had a lot of different triggers. One of them being sunlight. I had to retrain my brain to not trigger the danger alarm system and send me into flight or flight response when exposed to these "triggers." What works for me to calm my nervous system is to tell myself I am safe, I am okay, I am not in danger. The human brain is wired to search for danger and in this day and age we have so much stimulating us and we create the neural pathways in our brain to believe certain things are dangerous or a threat and therefore cause physical pain in our bodies. If what I'm offering interests you, reach out and I can help you. Wishing you the best on your journey!
