Asking A Doctor For To Fill Out ADA Paperwork For Migraines

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Houston, TX

I've recently had a real issue with having my neurologist filling out my Americans with Disabilities (ADA) paperwork for work, why? He stated in the paperwork that I might miss work occassionally due to migraines, but then put that I would have no symptoms that would cause me to miss. This caused my paperwork to be no good. Why would He fill the paperwork out in this manner? The paperwork wasn't for disability, it was to cover an absent from work and not be held against me. I had already used my… read more

I did give him the benefit of a doubt, only to have him explain to me the next time I seen him that it would be a lie for him to put that I have any kind of symptoms with a migraine (like dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, extreme head pain.......), then he told me that it didn't matter because he is retiring and I have to find another doctor.

I no longer hire unhelpful drs. I wouldn’t pay any other professional to purposely not help me so why do that for a dr? I would talk to him first to make sure he did just make a mistake b we are all human. However, if he just isn’t helping for no good reason I personally would hire someone that is willing to help. Drs act like they have too much power.

yes, I paid $50.00 for nothing, and then He put that I would have no reason to miss work for a migraine, even though, he put in the question/ answer before that I might miss 1-2 days due to my condition. Crazy?!

I know some Doctors need to having things literally spelled out for them. You mean one thing, and they assume another. You need to be very clear to get your message across. They might have just prior to you, had a patient needing a disability form fillled in and the doctor assumed you meant the same thing. Not for a note for work. However they often charge you for the cost, nevertheless. You can still go back and get the correct one. Sad you wasted time.
