Migraine is a neurological condition that can cause intense, disabling head pain along with many other symptoms. The pain is often described as throbbing, pounding, or pulsating and can be severe enough to prevent people from engaging in daily activities. The exact cause of migraine pain is not fully understood, but it may involve:

- Changes in the brainstem and its interactions with the trigeminal nerve, a major pain pathway.
- Altered levels of neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that transfer electrical impulses between cells.
- Overactivity of the trigeminal system, which controls many facial movements, including eye movement, leading to hypersensitivity and pain.

Additionally, migraine pain can be triggered by various factors such as stress, bright lights, certain foods, and hormonal fluctuations.
