Starting a new job is always stressful. Try to get assistance from everyone outside of the job. Ask friends to make meals and when you come home each night rest and limit all other activities until your over this hump.

Be careful and wise about sharing anything with your new job and new associates. Most people are supportive but really have no idea how difficult abd painful it really is

I found that doing things to reduce stress level helped me - I now do yoga 2/3 times a week and try to do mindfulness meditations on the days I don't go to yoga.

With regards to work, it may be worth asking to speak with their occupational health team to see if they can do anything to assist in work.

@A MyMigraineTeam Member, Can you get your doctor to write a letter or/and attach a medical explanation about what migraine is, and what it is like to live with them? Thank everyone in advance for their support and understanding. Assure them that you are dependable and will prove yourself to be worthy and a valuable asset as a coworker. Print copies to share with those you will be working closest with.

I dont know how many times I had to explain to my boss that a migraine is not a headache. Ugh! I said when u have a headache where the pain is so severe that you lose your stomach, then you have had a migraine. Only because that was the only way I knew how to explain it to him.lol

I will be going to work for a small company so they don't have the FMLA guidelines like larger companies? Any suggestions? I was terminated from my previous job with a fortune 500 company because of my migraines (I disclosed at hiring, had started ADA paperwork) they used "occurrences" to boot me out the door
