Anxiety Attacks

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Preston, UK

I have always suffered from anxiety, however, recently I have been waking up with anxiety attacks. I think this is due to my migraines however I'm not sure. Has anyone else had anxiety attacks caused by migraines?

In the morning when you first wake your blood pressure is usually elevated, especially if you have an alarm. This can ignite anxiety attacks. Interestlingly, migraines also have this increased blood pressure, but the two are not specifically linked. Waking up earlier, but slowly is way better (to soothing music) instead of horrible alarms, if you can.

Yes! I've been getting terrible anxiety and anxiety attacks and I just realised it could be connected to all the migraines I've been having, its no fun. Does anyone know anything about that more in depth?

I tend to have an increase of anxiety attacks during migraine and aura. Klonopin helps. My prayers are with you as both conditions are terrible.
