Skelaxin

A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭
Athens, GA

Hi
So I get 2+ migraines a week along with daily tension headaches caused by problems with my L and C spine. My doctor prescribed skelaxin to take a night and during the day if needed. It's 800mg which seems like a lot! Does anyone have any experience with this drug? I am 120 pounds and very sensitive to medication. Should I start with a half a tablet (400mg) and increase if needed?
Thanks!

Yes, I discontinued use of this medication. I am now down to 1 migraine per month after 3 months of consistency with taking 400mg of riboflavin, 300mg of CoQ10 and 400mg magnesium.... Per day!! Yay!!! I get a monthly menstrual migraine and take 2.5mg naratriptan for that and it usually lasts 3 days but much better than the chronic status migrainosous I was experiencing before!!

I don't have experience with the drug, but as a nurse it's probably best to go with the original prescription from your doctor as they would have prescribed it for a reason. 800mg is the usual dose for adults/anyone over 12years old ... so you might need to try it first and see how it affects you, especially as everyone reacts to drugs differently. I guess it might need to be 800mg to be effective or something like that. Hope that helps xx
